Gallimore, Edith Boyd

Edith Boyd Gallimore, 85, of Blacksburg, died Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at Kroontje Health Care Center. Edith was a loving, caring, selfless wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who cannot be replaced, and will be missed unbelievably, a special person who blessed everyone with a treasure of precious memories. Now she and Early are forever together. She was born in West Virginia on September 29, 1926, to the late Jay and Mollie Jones Boyd, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Early Gallimore; one sister, Helen Firestine; and two brothers, Edward Boyd and Billy Boyd. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Jay and Lynne Gallimore, of Wilson, N.C., Roger and Bernie Gallimore, of Batavia, Ohio; grandchildren, Hunter Gallimore and wife, Angelia, Britney Zaytoun and husband, George, Joel Gallimore and wife, Shannon, Dana Bishop and husband, Nathan, and Nathaniel Gallimore; eleven great-grandchildren, Caroline, Caroline, Carter, Georgie, Hayden, Jordan, Kate, Logan, Meghan, Nolan, and Sophia; a special niece, Frances Wade; and many other special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 4 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel, with Mr. Jim Bayne and Mr. Jerry Dowdy officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. The family will receive friends at 3 p.m., one hour prior to the service at the McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
