Kester, Carrie Hebert

Carrie Hebert Kester, 91, passed away on Saturday April 21, 2012 after a short illness. She is survived by Lewis Conard Kester Sr., her husband of nearly 68 years. They were residing at the Pulaski Retirement Community in Pulaski. She is also survived by a daughter, Norleen Kester Pomerantz; a son, Lewis Conard Kester Jr.; two granddaughters, Tamara Pomerantz and Kirsten Pomerantz Wallace; and two great-grandchildren, Luke and Avery Wallace. Mrs. Kester joined the Women’s Army Corp. (WAC) in April 29, 1943 until January 18, 1945. While in the army, she met Mr. Kester who was also serving in the army. Both were stationed at Newport News. Mrs. Kester was born in Evangeline, Louisiana in 1921 She is also survived by brothers, Jeffrey Hebert and Terry Hebert. Visitation will be at Summersett Funeral Home, Salisbury, N.C. at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2012, and the funeral will follow immediately after at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Rowan Memorial Park with military graveside rites. Mrs. Kester was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister who will be greatly missed. Summersett Funeral Home is serving the Kester family.
