Branscome, Irmyl Reece
Irmyl Reece Branscome, 88, of Indian Valley, was born on March 31, 1924, and went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 12, 2012. Irmyl was preceded in death by her parents, Peyton F. and Orlena Q. Reece; her brother, Peyton Thorson Reece; her husband, John Cody Branscome; and daughter, Maureen B. Dalton.
She is survived by her son, John Michael Branscome, of Indian Valley; daughters, Lois Bond (Gerald), of Indian Valley and Janet Hudson (Ted), of Chatham. Also surviving are two granddaughters, Denise Stilwell (Dennis), of Willis and Heather Little (Jeff), of Raleigh, N.C.; two grandsons, Allen Bond (Missy), of Indian Valley and Jeremy Cox (Lauren), of Chesterfield; five great-granddaughters, Holly Rose Stilwell, Megan Bond, Morgan Little, Natalie Little, and Nora Cox; and one great-grandson, Jacob Little. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Doris S. Reece.
Irmyl spent the first part of her life as a homemaker. Later on she worked at a sewing factory, a restaurant and the Jessie Peterman Memorial Library. She loved gardening, quilting, and reading. She attended Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church until she began having strokes in 1999. She lived by the Biblical commandment to “Love thy neighbor as thyself”.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2012, at the Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dustin Montgomery and the Rev. George Buchanan officiating. Interment to follow in the Quesenberry Family Cemetery, Shady Grove Road. Family will receive friends Saturday, April 14, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Maberry Funeral Home.
