Thornton, Carl Eugene

Carl Eugene Thornton, age 73 of Pulaski passed away Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at the Lewis-Gale Hospital, Pulaski. Born August 15, 1938 in Pulaski County he was the son of the late Earnest Harvey Thornton & Ethel Raye Meredith Thornton. His sisters; Leila Frances Zarbok, Freeda Earnestine Burton, Ethel Beatrice Baxtor and brothers; Harold Freeman Thornton and Garland Lee Thornton also preceded him in death. He was a manager of many local grocery stores and was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. He is survived by his Wife- Nancy Jean Thornton – Pulaski, Daughter- Rhonda Lee Thornton – Pulaski, Son- Larry Eugene Thornton – Pulaski, Granddaughter- Brandy Rashelle Thornton – Pulaski, Sister & Brother-in-law- Mae Thornton Simpson and husband, Bobby – Dublin. Brothers & Sisters-in-law- Jerry & Bonnie Thornton – Dublin Horace & Mary Thornton – Dublin Sister-in-law- Dorothy Thornton – Galax, Brother-in-law- Jerry Zarbok –CA. Several nieces and nephews- Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Bower Funeral Home-Chapel, Pulaski with the Rev. Danny McGlothlin officiating. Interment will follow at the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the Bower Funeral Home, Pulaski. Bower Funeral Home, Pulaski is handling the arrangements for the Thornton Family.
