wheeling charles lewisCharles Lewis Wheeling, 98 of Shawsville went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 11, 2012. Mr. Wheeling retired from N&W Railroad after thirty five years of service as a welder. He was a member of Seneca Baptist Church in Elliston, he enjoyed gardening, mowing, cutting wood, fishing and bird watching. He was the son to the late; Walter Lewis and Mary Lou Edna Wheeling. He was also preceded in death by his sisters; Janie Wheeling Hall, Stella Wheeling Musselman and her husband Jessie and brother; Lemule Wheeling. He is survived by his wife of seventy seven (77) years Willie (Biddie) Doyle Wheeling, sister-in-law; Helen Doyle Sawyer, nephews; Ottie Hall and wife Edith of Blacksburg, Cecil Hall and wife Pat of Shawsville, Elmer Hall and wife Mammie of Christiansburg, nieces; Betty Lou Hendricks and husband Ed of Bloomington, ID, Thelma Davis of Christiansburg and Mary Ellen Johnson of Shawsville. He is also survived by many great nieces, great nephews and their families. The family will receive friends at The Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg on Monday, February 13, 2012 from 5 – 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2012 in The Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Virgil McHone officiating. Interment will follow in the Wheeling Family Cemetery in Shawsville. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to the Shawsville Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 14, Shawsville, VA 24162.
