Hamblin, Virginia Albert (Gin)

Virginia Albert (Gin) Hamblin, 93, of Fairlawn, died Sunday, January 29, 2012, at Carrington Place, Matthews, N.C. She was born in Stuart on February 18, 1918, to the late Rufus Hart Sr. and Kate Cassell Albert. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Garfield William Hamblin. She was a longtime member of the Fairlawn United Methodist Church. She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Martha Jean and David Scott, of Salem, and Carol A. Hamblin, of Indian Trail, N,C,; two grandchildren, Craig Scott, and Chris Scott and wife, Sara; one sister and brother-in-law, Hallie A. and Ross Brown, of Blacksburg; one brother and sister-in-law, Rufus H. (R.H.) and Linda Albert, of McCoy; double first cousin, Hazel Albert, of Vinton; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral Services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2012, in the Fairlawn United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Kim Higgins officiating. Entombment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at the McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
