Smith, Lillian Beatrice
Lillian Beatrice Smith, 88, of Rich Creek, passed away while holding the hands of her sons, Dale and Mike Smith and daughter-in-laws, Brenda and Teresa Smith and in the presence of her son, Walt “Bunny” at Riverview Nursing Home, Rich Creek, Friday, January 27, 2012. Born November 4, 1923 at Rich Creek, she was the daughter of the late Cover S. and Ocie Mae Morrison Dent. Beatrice had worked for over forty years as a Housekeeping Supervisor at Virginia Tech. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rich Creek, a member of the WMU and Senior Citizens. She loved to bowl and participated in the Golden Olympics. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter J. “Apple Pie” Smith, a brother, sister and a great -granddaughter. Survivors include four sons, Garrett Dale Smith and wife Brenda of Rich Creek, Walter E. “Bunny” Smith of Wirtz, David Smith of Floyd County, and Michael Smith and wife Teresa of Rich Creek; eight grandchildren, Jeffrey, Carla, April, Chris, Kevin, Kenneth, Melissa and Travis; and twelve great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be 1 p.m. Monday, January 30, 2012 at the First Baptist Church, Rich Creek, with the Rev. Jason Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunrise Memorial Gardens, Rich Creek. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, January 29, 2012 at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, Peterstown, W.Va. and one hour prior to the services at the church.
