Stauffer, Dennis Jay (The Phattie)

Dennis Jay (The Phattie) Stauffer, of Asheville, N.C., formerly of Blacksburg, died Wednesday, January 18, 2012. Dennis was an amazing husband, father, son, brother, friend, and craftsman. Over the past 12 years, he built his business, Stauffer Percussion, from the ground up, living by his motto, “Love your drums.” Every drum he built was a labor of love, creativity, and craftsmanship. However, his best creation is his son Roan who was born January 13, 2011. Over the past year, Dennis and his wife spent every day caring for and playing with their Sprout with unimaginable joy and love. Dennis’ humility, integrity and deep caring made him a friend to all. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Brittney, his little man-cub, Roan, his parents, Bennie and Dean Stauffer, and his sisters, Sara, Sally, and Cindy. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2012, at Echo Mountain Recording-The Church Studio 14 N. French Broad Avenue, Asheville, NC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Roan’s education fund at Asheville Savings Bank.
