Wall, Sarah McDonald
Sarah McDonald Wall, 89, of Blacksburg, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2012. Born in Roanoke Virginia, January 19, 1922, she was the daughter of the late, Frank and Carrie McDonald.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 53 years, Guy Weston Wall of Blacksburg. Together they expanded the family farm into a registered dairy, now known as Wall Brother’s Dairy. Sarah attended Radford University and went on to teach in Montgomery County Public Schools for a few years, before dedicating her life to her family.
She was a long-time member of St. Michael Lutheran Church and was an active member of the local chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution. Sarah participated in garden club activities, a community homemakers group and enjoyed quilting. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed canning, preserving and sharing her bounty. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and she enjoyed bringing family together.
Sarah is survived by four children and their spouses; Charles “Mac” and Beverly Wall, Carol and Don Linkous, Ann and David “Tot” Martin, and Richard “Rick” and Carole Wall; eight grandchildren: Jeff and Vicki Wall, Kristi and Mike Snyder, Tammy and James Boturla, Donna and Don Harvey, Wes Martin, Carrie and C.K. Funderburgh, Frenda Wall, and Nathan Wall; and eight great-grandchildren. Sarah is also survived by three brothers and their wives: Frank and Betty Jean McDonald, Jr., George and Carlisle McDonald, Don and Emily McDonald; and two sisters, Nan and Bill Johnson, Jean and the late, Gil Partin; and many nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
The family wishes to express appreciation for the loving care Sarah received at Showalter Center over the past two years.
Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Sunday, January 15th at McCoy Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at St. Michael Lutheran Church on Monday, January 16th at 11:00 AM with Pastor John Wertz officiating. Interment will follow at the Westview Cemetery in Blacksburg.
