Hixon, Melva Virginia McGuire

Melva Virginia McGuire Hixon, 85, of Blacksburg, Va., died on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, at Heritage Hall Health Care. She was born in Montgomery County, Va., on April 4, 1926, to the late Lacy Pleasant and Alice Almeda Wayne McGuire. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Ward Hixon; a son, William Wayne Hixon; brothers, Arnold, Harry, and Roy McGuire; and sisters, Myrtle Howery, Pauline Wirt, Claudine Hodge, Clairease McGuire. She is survived by her children and the spouses, Shirley and Robert H. Smith, of Newport, Mary Davis and Edward Walker, of Newport, Jerry and Cindy Hixon, of Pembroke, Ginger and David Teague, of New River, Donald and Enola Hixon, of Blacksburg, and Bobby Hixon and Hazel Cline, of Dublin; daughter-in-law, Tammy S. Hixon, of Blacksburg; brother, Kyle McGuire, of Montgomery County; sister, Elsie Louise Evans ,of Bradley, W.Va.; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great- great- grandchildren. Funeral Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 13, 2012, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Layne Board officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday evening, January 12, 2012, at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg.
