gravley grover menethreeGrover Menethree Gravley, 95, of Belspring, went home to see his Saviour face to face Sunday, January 1, 2012 at his home. Born September 23, 1916 in Pulaski, he was the son of the late Egbert Cleveland Gravley and Mary Gertrude McHone Gravley. Two brothers, Edward L. Gravley and Garvin G. Gravley also preceded him in death. He was retired from Hercules/RAAP with over 18 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in World War II with the 776th Amphibious Tank Battalion in the South Pacific. He also served with the Calvary Unit. A member of the New River Baptist Temple, his greatest vocation in life was that of “Prayer Warrior”. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ocie Mae McHone Gravley, Belspring; children, Betty Warden and husband, Larry, Belspring, Mary Imogene Gordon and husband, Richard, Radford; eight grandchildren ; 17great -grandchildren; and five great -great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Edrel and Peggy Gravley, Fairlawn; and lots of special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Bower Funeral Home, Pulaski, with Pastor Gary Stike and the Rev. Dewey Weaver officiating. Interment will follow at the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin where the V.F.W. Post #1184 will conduct military honors. The family will receive friends an hour before service time on Wednesday.
