Newman, Violet Quesenberry
Violet Quesenberry Newman, 84, of Pulaski, Va., died Wednesday night, December 14, 2011 in the Lewis-Gale Hospital, Pulaski. She was born in Pulaski, Va. on February 6, 1927 and was the daughter of the late William Eugene Quesenberry and Thelma Coalson Quesenberry. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Dexter (Ed) Newman Jr.; and by an infant daughter, Ann Kelly Newman; and by one brother, Harvey Comer Quesenberry. She was a retired employee of Pulaski Community Hospital with 40 years of service. She was a life long member of The First Baptist Church, Pulaski. Surviving are daughter, Elaine Dexter Newman, Pulaski; granddaughter, Anne Kelly Newman, Pulaski; sisters, Charlotte Q. Riggs, Pulaski, and Lena Q. Doyle, Sanford, Fla.; special friends, George and Ashley Caves, Dublin; sister-in-law, Sylvia N. Malone, Charlottesville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Fred C. and Mary Lou Newman, Cincinnati, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. from the Stevens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Aaron Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. Visiting will be Saturday from the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the service hour. The family would like to thank Dr. Ken Pendergrast and staff, and the staff of Lewis-Gale Hospital for the care they provided Ms. Newman during her illness.
