Hurst, Jr., Gilmer Tolley

Gilmer Tolley Hurst Jr., age 68 of Dublin VA, a well loved member of the community, went home to be with the lord on December 9th 2011. Tolley was born March 29th 1943 in Pulaski, He is preceded in death by his parents Gilmer T. Hurst, Sr. and Artie Coble Hurst, also two daughters Gina Hurst and Kimberly Hurst. Tolley was a deputy sheriff for Pulaski County for 29 years, and was the department Chaplin for many years. He was also an alumni from the 1961 graduating class of Pulaski High School. He is a Retired Lieutenant Colonel of the US Army serving his country for 30 years. He was a member of New Life Harvest Church in Radford Virginia, and was honored to be a member of the Faith Riders Christian Biker Ministry and a member of the Patriot Guard. Tolley is survived by his loving wife of 15 years Tammy Gray Hurst. His children Phillip M. Hurst of Triangle, Rebecca S. Hurst of Pulaski, Casey P. Dowdy and her husband Buck Dowdy of Dublin, and Justin G. Petty of Dublin. He is survived by his father and mother in-law Daniel and Saundra Gray, 2 brother in-laws and their wives; Perry Gray and Vickie, Stacey Gray and Allison. He is survived by one Uncle Homer Coble of Radford. He is survived by one very special granddaughter Karoline B. Peaslee of Draper and his two Godsons Robert and Adam Watson of Wytheville, VA. He also survived by two very special companions Chewie and Weemo. He will be missed by his family and friends. Funeral services will be held Tuesday December 13, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Seagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Dallas Vines officiating. Interment will follow in the Appalachian Conference Pentecostal Holiness Cemetery in Dublin, where the VFW Post 1184 will conduct military honors. Pallbearers will be the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office and the procession will be led by the Patriot Guard Riders.
