Lyons, Melvin Lee
Melvin Lee Lyons, 74, of Dublin, Va., died on Sunday, November 27, 2011, in the New River Valley Medical Center, Radford. He was born in Pulaski on January 21, 1937, and was the son of the late Lucille Lyons Tabor. He was also preceded in death by grandparents, Edmond P. Lyons and Florence F. Lyons; and by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Edna Rogers.
Mr. Lyons was a veteran having served in the United States Army.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Rogers Lyons; daughter and son-in-law, Melinda L. and John Worrell; grandchildren, Tara W. Worrell and Dylan T. Worrell; half sister, Patricia Hartman; cousins, Benny and Karen Hudson, Sandra H. Simpkins, Mary H. Cox, Erma H. and Ray Shepherd, and Joyce H. Quesenberry; brothers-in-law and spouses, James and Gladys Rogers, Pete and Treva Rogers, and Bob Rogers; sister-in-law and spouse, Sandra and Charles Painter; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 2011, from the Dublin Christian Church with Minister Terry Hodge officiating. Burial will follow in Newbern Cemetery with Pulaski VFW Post #41184 conducting the Military Graveside Rites. Visiting will be held on Tuesday evening, November 29, 2011, at Stevens Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials be made to Dublin Christian Church, Building Fund, P.O. Box 1330, Dublin, VA 24084.
