Richardson, Mary Joann (Jo)

Mary Joann (Jo) Richardson, 87, of Narrows, passed away peacefully at her home with her loving husband at her side on Friday, October 28, 2011. A lifelong resident of Giles County, she was born in Eggleston on August 18, 1924 and was the daughter of the late William Carroll and Bess Neff Barger. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Buckland. Jo was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Narrows, where she was a member of the choir for over 50 years, a Past Matron of Lakeland Chapter #74 of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of Pearis Chapter #124, O.E.S. She loved traveling, crafts and flowers, especially roses. A loving wife, mother, and friend, she will be dearly missed by her family and many friends. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 62 years, Harold Richardson; and a daughter, Tanya Richardson of Glen Allen, Virginia; several nieces; nephews; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many special friends. A celebration of Jo’s life will be held Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Narrows with the Rev. Christopher Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
