luckado david leeDavid Lee Luckado, 56, of Pulaski, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2011, after a long and courageous battle with leukemia. David was born on August 19, 1955, in Christiansburg, to Beulah and Henry Luckado. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jerry Luckado; and one brother, Donald Luckado. Surviving are his wife of 22 years, Carol J. Luckado, of Pulaski; two sons, David D.B. Luckado, of Georgia, and Darrell Hogston (Kim), of Hiwassee; three daughters, Lorah Ellison (Roy), of Christiansburg, Delores Gillenwater (Ronald) and Theresa Hogston (Brian), of Pulaski; one brother and sister-in-law, Clifford and Barbara Luckado, of Radford; two sisters, Dorothy Cumbee, of Pulaski, and Susie Foster, of Christiansburg; 14 grandchildren, Amber, Megan, Kayla, Derek, Austin, Ryan, Shelby, Abby, Heather, Ashley, Gary, Brandon, Amanda and Destiny; five great-grandchildren, Alisha, Noah, Logan, Kylie and Mason; plus aunts, uncles and several nieces and nephews. David worked for 25 years at Marshall/Chandler Concrete. He was an avid football fan, especially the Cowboys. He loved riding his motorcycle, spending time outdoors and being with his family. His family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Goldschmidt and the entire staff of the Blue Ridge Cancer Center; the doctors and staff at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center and Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital; the staff at the Food City Pharmacy for always going the extra mile; to Pastor Tim and Amanda West and the entire church family at the New Life Church of the Nazarene for all their help; Pastor James Walker for all his prayers; Robin at Medi-Home Health and all their family and friends for all they’ve done, whether it was a prayer or a kind word, it was all deeply appreciated. “Pops, we love you, we will always miss you, but it brings us solace to know you are now in a better place and no longer suffering. We thank God for having you in our life as long as we did.” The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 22, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 23, 2011, at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Timothy West and the Rev. James Walker officiating.
