Ratcliffe, Mary Adeline Comer

Mary Adeline Comer Ratcliffe, 82, of Pearisburg, Va., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 19, 2011, surrounded by her family at home. Mary was the daughter of the late Jessie and Cora Tanner Comer. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Bentley Odell Ratcliffe; one daughter, Mary Ellen Akers; two sisters, Virginia Southern and Polly Dent; and four brothers, James Comer, John Comer, Henry Comer and Jessie Comer. She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Bentley Wayne Ratcliffe and wife, Doris, of Pearisburg, and Michael Eugene Ratcliffe and wife, Carol, of Newport, Va.; two daughters, Diane Bradley and husband, James, of Pearisburg, and Amy Butler and husband, Rhett, of Pearisburg; two brothers, Robert Comer and wife, Alma, of Oakvale, W.Va., and Roger Comer and wife, Pauline, of Elgood, W.Va.; one sister, Betty Richards, of Princeton, W.Va.; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and very special friends, Lacy and Martha Ratcliffe, Tommy and Evelyn Gordon, Jackie Dancey of North Carolina, and Perk Givens, of Pearisburg. A Celebration of her Life will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2011, at Givens Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. and the funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2011, at God’s House in Hoges Chapel, Va., with Pastor Wayman Cregger, Pastor Larry Dyer and Tommy Gordon officiating. Burial will follow in the Ratcliffe Family Cemetery in Pearisburg, Va. Mary owned and operated Tastee Freeze for 30 years in Pearisburg, Va., with her late husband.
