Benson, Bonnie Dean

Bonnie Dean Benson, 75, of Christiansburg, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2011. She was born in Staunton, Va., the daughter of the late Elwood and Hazel Dean. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church and for many years was the owner and operator of The Tax Service in Fairlawn. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Bob Benson; four children and their spouses, John and Christine Benson, of Christiansburg, Vickie and Kim Martin, Doug and Cindi Benson, and Kimberly and Jeff Irby, all of Radford; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Nathan Crouch, of Staunton; brother and sisters-in-law, John and Charlotte Dean, of Staunton, and Nancy Dean, of Westminster, Md.; nine grandchildren, Jessica Taylor and her husband, Devin, Michael Benson, Maggie Martin, Josh, Andrew, Ben and Clayton Benson, and Sarah and Robert Irby; and great- grandchildren, Matthew, Caroline, Jordan and Laycee. Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 4, 2011, at the Central United Methodist Church in Radford with the Rev. Mike Carter officiating. Interment will follow in the West View Cemetery in Radford. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Sunday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Riner Rescue Squad or the Central UMC Building Fund.
