bolick_jr_john_walterJohn Walter Bolick Jr., 74, of Floyd, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 23, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Crossnore, N.C., on October 16, 1936. He was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. John Walter Bolick and Dorothy McClung Bolick McNair; and sister-in-law, Nancy Bolick. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; daughters, Julie Davis (Marc) and Karen Worrell (Mike), of Roanoke; stepchildren, Donna Hall, of Roanoke, and Scott Hall, of Arlington; brother, Tommy Bolick (Sherri), of Montvale; sisters-in-law, Dot Martin, of Christiansburg, Betty Moles (Ollie), of Floyd, Linda Hodges (Ewell), of Floyd, and Sue Jessup (Buford), of Laurel Fork; brother-in-law, Jack Keith (Dee), of Georgia; grandchildren, Matt Davis, of Richmond, Ryan Davis, Dale, Amanda and Victoria Worrell, of Roanoke; stepgrandson, Nathaniel Damatta, of North Carolina; nieces, Catherine Minnix (Jeff), of Montvale, and Evelyn Luck, of Bedford; close friend, Olen Martin, of Roanoke; and many other loved ones and friends. He was retired from Norfolk Southern after 27 years as a senior analyst and most recently retired from Emeritus. He was a member of the Floyd United Methodist Church. John was a kind, humble person who would do anything for anyone. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 26, 2011, at Topeco Church of the Brethren in Floyd. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2011, at Oakey?s South Chapel. John’s favorite Bible verse was John 3:16, “For God so loved the World, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
