Fisher, Carl Hillman

Carl Hillman Fisher, 88, of Pearisburg, took off on a Heavenly flight into the loving arms of the Lord Jesus on Tuesday, August 9, 2011. Carl was born in Jackson, Mississippi on February 1, 1923, and was the son of the late Fred Brown and Betty Baygents Fisher. In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by a best friend who was like a brother, Hunter Gates; a brother, Gerald K. Fisher; a beloved nephew, Ben Fisher; and a cousin, Betty Jane Friend. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 years, Anne Fisher, of Pearisburg; three daughters, Pam Brooks (Jim), of Orlando, Florida, Jeanne Fisher-Cullen (Michael), of Lawrenceville, Georgia, and Lisa Rattlinggourd, of Pearisburg; five grandchildren, Nathan Lowry, Jennifer Nickell, Victoria K. Warren, Boo Echohawk Bergeron, and Caledonia Toonie Rattlinggourd; three great-grandchildren, Landon Baygents Bergeron, Audrey Anna Nickell, and Sara Grier; several nieces, nephews and cousins, and many special friends, including a beloved family member, Tommy Taylor, of Pearisburg. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 12, 2011, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows. Entombment will follow in Birchlawn Abbey with military rites conducted by American Legion Posts 68 of Narrows, 311 of Pembroke, 145 of Peterstown, and VFW Post 6000 of Narrows. The family will receive friends at Riffe’s Funeral Chapel Friday from 1 p.m. until just prior to the service.
