Pence, Walton Lee
Walton Lee (Snooky) Pence, 75, passed away suddenly Saturday, November 11, 2006 in the Pulaski Community Hospital.
He was born in Covington, Va. on September 15, 1932 and was the son of the late Robert Lee and Emily Jane Gibson Pence. He was a retired employee of Norfolk Southern Railroad, having worked for 33 years in the East End Shops in Roanoke. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
Left behind to mourn his passing are his loving wife of 37 years, Mary Ellen Montgomery Pence; a son and his wife, Robert W. Pence and his wife Bessie of Dublin; a daughter and her husband, Susan Pence and Clay Freeman of Dublin; a step-daughter, Doris Wooland of Richmond; seven grandchildren, Rebecca Branscome, Joey Kincer, Shawn Douglas Freeman, David Kincer, Ashley Pence, Erin Wooland, and Lauren Wooland; and a special friend, Alice Robertson of Little Creek, Virginia.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service, Narrows with the Rev. Mike Brumitt, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Narrows with graveside rites conducted by the American Legion Post # 68 of Narrows.
