Hamlin, June Sawyers
June Sawyers Hamlin, 82, of Newport, died on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at her home. She was born in Kyle, W.Va., on June 12, 1929, to the late Henry Wade and Mattie Winters Graham. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Sawyers; and a second husband Albert Hamlin; two sons, Stephen Wade Sawyers and William Sawyers Jr.; sister, Virginia Lee Thomas; and three brothers, Jack, Wade, and Don Graham. She was member of the Cambria Pentecostal Holiness Church. She retired from Virginia Tech after a faithful long career. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Gilmore, of Georgia, Barbara June Criner, of Blacksburg, Toni Vaught and husband, Dale, of Newport, and number four daughter, Barbara Alls, of Newport; grandchildren, Karen Barber and husband, Jimmy, Louis W. Miles and wife, Sherri, Melinda Huff and husband, Harold, Michael Price and wife, Jaletta, Matthew Price and wife, Ashley, Dale Vaught Jr. and wife, Sarah, Justin Vaught and wife, Erynn, Geoffrey Vaught and wife, Carolyn, Dominic Bari, and Johnathan Alls; 12 greatgrandchildren, one of which has Granny June’s heart, Alexis Price; sister, Mary and Gene Kegley, of Blacksburg; brother, Robert Graham; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Carl Hannah and Good Samaritan Hospice. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2011, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Shepherd officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday evening, July 1, 2011, at the funeral home.
