Ferrell, Donald Wade
Donald Wade Ferrell, 82, of Rich Creek, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 13, 2011, at his home. A lifelong resident of Giles County, he was born in Narrows on August 17, 1928, and was the son of the late Elmer L. and Juanita King Ferrell. In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, LaRue French Ferrell; and a brother, Adolph Ferrell. Don was a retired employee of Celanese Acetate in Narrows with 45 years of service, a faithful member of Rich Creek United Methodist Church, and a longtime member of the Rich Creek Lions Club, where he received the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. He also served on Rich Creek Town Council and on the Giles Planning Commission. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and woodworking. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Don was respected by all who knew him, and will be deeply missed. Left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Tom and Connie Ferrell, of Salem, and Mark and Tamera Ferrell, of Daleville; five grandchildren, Steven Ferrell, of Salem, Scott Ferrell, of Elliston, Kristin Ferrell, of Salem, and Chase Ferrell and Spencer Ferrell, both of Daleville; and eight great-grandchildren, Haley, Brandon, Sydney, Connor, Steve, Khloe, Emma and Dawson. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Rich Creek with the Rev. Aubrey Whitlow officiating. Burial will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Rich Creek. The family will receive friends at Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. The family requests that those sending memorial contributions, please consider the Giles County Relay For Life to benefit the American Cancer Society .
