Smith, Kenneth Allen Saunders

Kenneth Allen Saunders Smith, 73, of Dublin, and Mullens, W.Va., passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at Montgomery Regional Hospital in Blacksburg after a long illness. Born on October 1, 1937, at Hemphill, W.Va., he worked as an electrician for Consolidated Coal Company at Itmann, W.Va. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold H. Smith; stepfather, Charles H. Saunders Sr.; sons, Rick and Michael Smith; brother, Charles H. Saunders Jr.; and sister, Charlene Saunders Hottle. Survivors include his mother, Pauline F. Saunders, of Dublin;, daughter, Dawn Smith, of Crum, W.Va.; two sons, Keith Waycaster, of Oceana, W.Va., and Shane Smith, of Mullens, W.Va.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ada and Ed McCormick, of Hoschton, Ga., Kaye and Sam Phillips, Susie Saunders, Becky Long, and Darlene and Larry Ousley, all of Dublin; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at noon on Friday, June 10, 2011, at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Dr. Larry Ousley officiating. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Bluefield, Va. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.
