Long, Stella Mae Dove

Stella Mae Long, 87, of Greenbrier Lane, Newport, departed this life on Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at the home of her son as she was being cared for by her family. Born in Montgomery County on January 11, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Jerry Marshall and Lilly Mae Simons Dove. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Lee Shaver and Pauline Morehead; and her brothers, George Dove and Jerry Dove Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved family; her husband, William Lee Long; her sons and daughters-in-law, Marshall D. and Janet Dowdy, of Newport, and Roy Lee and Phyllis Dowdy, of Roanoke; her daughter and son-in-law, Debra Ann and Joe Spears, of Newport; her grandchildren, Marty, Daniel, Keith, Melissa, Terry and Shane; and her great-grandchildren Nick, Noah, Leslie, Justin, Tyler, Abigail, and Isabella. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2011, in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with Pastor Eddie Kendall and Pastor Claude Dove officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Christiansburg.
