Custer, Dustin Michael

Dustin Michael Custer, 20, of Christiansburg, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 31, 2011. Born on September 2, 1990, he was a graduate of the CHS Class of 2009. He was an employee of Food Lion in Christiansburg, Va. He was just beginning the joys of fatherhood. He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Thelma Custer and Edith Gillespie; and his grandfather, Donald Cox. He is survived by his fiancée, Brittany Early; son, Draco Custer; mother and stepdad, Melissa and Brian Atkins; father and stepmother, MC and Crystal Gillespie; sisters and brothers, Brooke Miles, Charlie Gillespie, William Gillespie, Megan Gillespie, Bubba Early, Justin Atkins and Heather Atkins; and the love of his life, Mable (Tootie) Custer, whom he always called GRANNY. He is also survived by many uncles, aunts, and a host of friends, including Elizabeth Jessie. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 2, 2011, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 3, 2011, at Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. David L. Hurd officiating.
