Mowbray, Ellen (Blue) Clarkson

Ellen (Blue) Clarkson Mowbray, 59, of Richmond, and formerly of Christiansburg, peacefully departed this life Friday, May 27, 2011. Retiring from a vibrant and varied career in hotel marketing, she relished landscaping, hospitality, interior design and rescuing shelter dogs. She always had a plan, and she always was concerned about those around her. Her passing leaves a big hole in many lives. Preceding her in death were her father, Fred Clarkson; and brother, John Clarkson. Surviving family members include her husband, Harry Mowbray; her mother, Ruby Clarkson; sister, Diane Clarkson; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Jim Rice, all from Christiansburg; niece, Kristen Rice, of Salem, and beloved dog, Charlie. A memorial service will be held in Richmond at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations made in Ellen’s name may be sent to your local S.P.C.A.
