Charles Arthur (CA) Viers Jr., 82, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2011, surrounded by his loved ones, at his home in Radford. He was born on February 12, 1929, the son of the late Charles Arthur Sr., and Sarah Lawson Viers. C.A. enjoyed a 22 year career with the United States Army which took him and his family to many places in the U.S. After leaving the military he was a U.S. Postal Service mail carrier with 17 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Eugene, Thomas and Robert; sisters, Dora, Georgia, Ida Belle and Virginia; and his first wife, Illa Mae Hodge Viers. Survivors include his wife, Loretta; sons, Robert Michael (Carol), and Charles Allen; daughter, Debra Ann (Robbie); sister, Velma Sue; stepdaughter, Sherry Hedge; grandson, Cory Matthews (Laura); great-grandchildren, Dylan and Emily; and many cousins and friends throughout America. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 6, 2011, at the Max Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Coleman officiating. Interment will follow in the Thornspring Cemetery in Pulaski County where members of VFW Post #776 will conduct Military Graveside Rites. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday evening, May 5, 2011, at the church.
