McGuyer, Mattie Wood

Mattie Wood McGuyer, 56, of Christiansburg, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2011. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ora Yopp Wood; brother, Arthur Wood; and sister, Barbara Mills. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Nichole Richardson; stepchildren, Steven McGuyer and Lisa Sparbel and husband, Robert; brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Mary Wood; sister, Lilly Blankenship; sister-in-law, Edna Wood; brother-in-law, Hobart Mills; and nieces and nephews. Mattie’s nieces and nephews were very special to her. She played an important part in their lives as she blessed them with love and understanding. They will always have a special place in each of their hearts for Mattie.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 4, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cambria Pentecostal Holiness Church. Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2011, with the Reverend Jerry Shepherd and the Reverend Jube Burke officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Christiansburg. DeVilbiss Funeral Home, Radford, Va., is in charge of arrangements.
