Kaylor, Bernard Leonidas

Bernard Leonidas Kaylor, 84, previously of Pulaski, died on Friday April 29, 2011, in the Randolph Health and Rehabilitation Center in Asheboro, N.C. He was born on July 29, 1926, in Bristol, Va., and was the son of the late Mary Grim Kaylor and John Frank Kaylor. Bernard graduated from the University of West Virginia with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He was a veteran of the United States Army, and was employed by the Hercules Powder Company at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant with 32 years and five months of dedicated service. During these years Bernard made his residence in Pulaski, where he became a member of the First Christian Church (DOC). Other affiliations included the Pythagoras Masonic Lodge #239 A.F. & A.M., the Kazim Shrine and the Order of the Eastern Star former chapter #113 where he served as Past Patron. Bernard is survived by his closest and dearest companion, Iva Shelton Vaughan, of Asheboro, N.C.; his sister, Edith Marie Evans, of Tennessee; his eldest son and wife, Stephen Montgomery and Patricia; his youngest son and fiancée, David Langley and Linda Whitsett; and two grandchildren, Langley Ann Munoz and John Matthew Kaylor. Also surviving is one son-in-law, Antonio Munoz; and one great-grandson, Antonio David Munoz. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 2, 2011, at Seagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Linda Whitsett officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin, where the Pythagoras Masonic Lodge will conduct Masonic Graveside Rites. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 1, 2011, at the funeral home from 2 until 4 p.m. and from 6 until 8 p.m. The Kaylor family would like to extend special thanks to the families of Steve and Melinda Vaughan and Ron and Earlene Vaughan for the untold numerous acts of kindness and assistance they provided throughout the years.
