Lou Emma Wright, 90, of Radford, Va., formerly of Bradshaw, W.Va., passed away Monday, April 4, 2011, in Roanoke Carilion Hospital in Roanoke. Lou Emma was born June 1, 1920, a daughter of the late George Washington and America Hagerman Mullins. She resided in Radford since 1985. She was an honor graduate of Concord College, retired elementary school teacher of 35 years having taught in the Bradshaw area schools. Her hobbies included gardening, flowers, bird watching, reading, going to the theater, movies, Goodwill shopping, quilting, making afghans for all the family members, traveling and always learning. She was of the Methodist faith and always the first one ready to go. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Lacy Wright Sr., who passed away July 17, 2004; four brothers, W.H., Elbert, Lundy, and George Jr. Mullins; six sisters, Ethel Powell, Juanita Chisholm, Georgia Byrd, Mary Smallwood, Barbara Allen Mullins, and Virgie Mullins. Survivors include her son, Lacy Walker Wright Jr. and wife, Cathy of Welch, W.Va.; two daughters, Debra Jean Brouse and husband, Bob, of Dublin, Va., and Kathy Lynn Wallace and husband, Stuart of Charlotte, N.C.; four grandchildren, Emma Wallace, Lacie Wallace and Andrew Wallace of Charlotte, and Tammy Stevenson, of Stephens City, Va.; her sister, Rosa Stevenson, of Claytor Lake, Va.; her sister-in-law, Martha Eastridge, of Abingdon, Va.; and the family cat “Spook”. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 7, 2011, at 12:30 p.m. with the Reverend Charles Rose officiating from the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens at Princeton, W.Va. Pallbearers will be Bob Brouse, Paki Stephenson, Stewart Wallace, Donald Stanley, and other family members. Friends may visit with the family at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger, Thursday, April 7, 2011, from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger is assisting the Wright Family.
