Horton, Margaret Edwards

Margaret Edwards Horton, 84, of Pembroke and formerly of Kimballton, departed this life Monday evening, April 4, 2011, at her home in the loving care of her family. Born in Delton, on July 4, 1926, she was a daughter of the late John and Ellen Bryson Edwards. She and her husband operated the Kimballton Supply Store, which she managed and supplied friendship and mothering to the whole community. Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elwood Horton; an infant daughter, Debra Horton; her brothers, Bruce (Buddy), Jack, and JC Edwards and her sisters, Virginia Clark, Katherine Smith, Estrue Clark, Marie Hanson and Nancy Ramsey. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Terry Lee Horton and his friend, Annette Kast, of Pembroke; her daughter and son-in-law, Iris Delaine and Lloyd Caldwell, of Roanoke; her grandchildren, Stephanie Galbraith, Ashiley Caldwell, and Chad Horton; her great-grandchildren, Caleb Galbraith, Balin Galbraith, Madison Smith, Benjamin Horton; her sisters, Elizabeth (Tiny) Worrell, of Radford, Carol Carter, of Florida, Freda Pugh, of Pulaski, and Joyce Secrist, of Dublin; her bingo buddy, Clyde Saunders; and her caregiver, Charlotte Fields. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 8, 2011, at 11 a.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke, with entombment following in Birchlawn Abbey in Pearisburg.
