Screbant, Julia Lewan
Julia Lewan Screbant, 101, of Blacksburg, died on Thursday, March 31, 2011, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home. She was born in a country log home in Lublin, Wis., on March 15, 1910, to the late Stanley and Mary Lewan. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Screbant; two brothers, Stanley and Alex Lewan; a son-in-law, Earl Collier Jr.; and a greatgrandchild, Ryan Crenshaw. Julia loved her family, church, gardening, bingo, cards and sweets for her “sweet-toot.” She was loved by many. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Collier, of Blacksburg; two sons and daughter-in-law, Norbert Screbant, of Blacksburg, and Raymond and Susan Screbant, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Leslie Collier, Brad Collier, Angie Crenshaw, Amy Kearin, Cheryl Parsons, Emily Lorenzen, Julie Screbant; 12 greatgrandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 4, 2011, in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Remi Sojka officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1205 Old Mill Road, Blacksburg, VA 24060.
