Weikle, Lucille

Lucille Weikle, 87, of Peterstown, W.Va., passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Riverview Nursing Home, Rich Creek. Born August 5, 1923, at Kire, she was the daughter of the late Walter Kent and Nellie Porterfield Medley. Lucille had retired from the Celanese Corp. after 40 years of service. She was a 1942 graduate of Union High School and was a member of the Dropping Lick United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James P. Weikle Sr.; a sister, Mary “Goldie” Jones; and two brothers, Eugene and Leon Medley. Survivors include one son, James P. Weikle Jr., of Salem; two sisters Dorothea “Dot” Williams and husband, “Buck” of Peterstown, W.Va. and Pauline Woods and husband, Teddy, of Pearisburg; one grandchild, Tony Weikle; two great-grandchildren, Anthony and Lance Weikle; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be 1 p.m., Friday, April 1, 2011, at the BroylesShrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel, Peterstown, W.Va. with the Rev. Jimmy Allen and the Rev. Bill Reed officiating. Burial will follow in the Peterstown Cemetery, Giles County. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, March 31, 2011, at the funeral home.
