Boling, Robert S.

Robert (Bob) S. Boling, 68, of Blacksburg, VA, beloved father, grandfather, pianist/organist, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2019. Bob was born in Parkersburg, WV and was a graduate of Spencer High School in Spencer, WV.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Boling, and brother, John Boling. He is survived by brothers, Joe Boling (Christine) and Bruce Boling (Star); daughters, Jessica Weitz (David), Jeannette McCain (Mark); and two grandchildren.

Bob was in the computer technology field in Radford from 1982 to 2016. In his earlier years he was involved in radio broadcasting at several radio stations in West Virginia, Roanoke and the New River Valley. In the NRV Bob was known as “The Morning Mayor” on his radio show. He also served as the general manager of WKEX in Blacksburg. He was a private pilot and also enjoyed various hobbies including traveling, music, golf, swimming and cycling. He was a 1975 graduate in Business Administration and Computer Technology from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University. He was also a member of the Varsity Glee Club and New Virginians.
