McMahan, Carl Willard

Carl Willard McMahan, age 63, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2019, at the Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg, VA. Born December 23, 1955, in Ronceverte, WV, he was the son of the late Ira Lee and Beatrice Juanita Green McMahan. Carl was a Seventh Day Adventist and worked as a stone cutter at Virginia Tech. He was a retired veteran, having served 18 years in the Army National Guard. He loved collecting comics, ball cards, and enjoyed all types of sports.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Lea Freeny. Survivors include his loving wife of 35 years, Debra Alexander McMahan; his loving daughter, Tiffany Dawn McMahan of Peterstown, WV; five brothers, Jimmy Pierce, Jr. and wife Dee of Lindside, WV, Dale McMahan and wife Jo of Renick, WV, George McMahan of Caldwell, WV, Dalford McMahan and wife Kathy of Union, WV, and Raymond McMahan of Friars Hill, WV; five sisters, Georgia McMahan of Lewisburg, WV, Delsie Knicely and husband Terrence of Friars Hill, WV, Shirley Springston and husband Tony, Ruth Williams and husband Robert, all of Lindside, WV, and Wanda Wykle of White Sulphur Springs, WV; father-in-law, Charles Arless “Obbie” Alexander of Peterstown, WV; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, December 7, 2019, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Barry Harper officiating. Burial will follow at the McMahan-Green Cemetery on Back Valley Road in Lindside, WV. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, December 6, 2019, at the funeral home. Arless Alexander, Jacob Alexander, Charlie Weikle, Jimmy Pierce, BJ Capaldo, and James “Seven” Raines will serve as pallbearers.
