Stowers, John Oliver
John Oliver Stowers, 65, of 5174 New Dublin Church Road, Dublin, died early on Tuesday morning, March 8, 2011, in the Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born on November 8, 1945, and was preceded in death by a daughter, Carrie M. Stowers; and his father, Oliver V. Stowers. He was a Vietnam veteran of the United States Army where he was a E4 Specialist in the 52nd Infantry Military Police. Surviving are his wife, Phyllis C. Stowers; son, John J. Stowers and wife, Barbara, and their children, John Jr. and Paige; daughter, the Rev. Cheri D. Stowers; daughter, Mary Ann Taylor and husband, Thomas, and their children, Jake, Brooke and Becky; daughter, Jessica L. Stowers and her child, Gabe; mother and stepfather, Virgie and Bob Kingrea; two brothers and two sisters, the Rev. Mable Caudill and husband, James, Larry Stowers and wife, Vickie, Wanda Pearce and husband, Steve, and Pastors Roger Stowers and wife, Wanda; and many beloved nephews, nieces, cousins and special friends. Funeral Service will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2011, from Stevens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Mike Collins and the Rev. Cheri D. Stowers officiating. Burial will follow in the Hufford Cemetery, Pulaski County with Pulaski VFW Post #1184 conducting the Military Graveside Rites. Visiting will be held on Friday, March 11, 2011, from the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski.
