Byrd, Ola Harrington

Ola Harrington Byrd, 92, of Independence, died October 21, 2013. Mrs. Byrd was born in Independence, Virginia, to the late Virgie Cornett and William Rush Harrington and was the widow of Paul E. Byrd.

Surviving, two sons and spouses, Ronnie and Alexis Byrd and Kenneth and Patricia Byrd of Independence, VA; one sister, Virginia H. Bolt of Elk Creek, VA; Four grandchildren, Kelly (Timothy) Pennington of Elk Creek, VA, Jason (Emily) Byrd of Pilot, VA, Paul Byrd, II and (Lark) of Stafford, VA, and Preston Byrd of Ames, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Olivia, Adam, Adalyn, Clara, Lindsey, Erin, Michael, Alison and Jason and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Salem United Methodist Church, Independence, VA. The Rev. Bill Shupe will officiate. Interment in Salem Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m.
