Morris, Ersie Imogene Jennings
Ersie Jennings Morris, 103, of 5265 Wilderness Road, Newbern, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at Heritage Hall in Blacksburg, Va. Born on March 3, 1907, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of the late Currell and Dosca Newman Jennings. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Hugh G. Morris; sisters, Stella Jennings, Ruth J. Cruff, Zelma J. Southern, and Lula J. Morris; brothers, Troy Jennings and Creed Jennings; and a son-inlaw, Hensel Mabry. Mrs. Morris was a long time employee of Paul Knitting Mills and Business Opportunities for the Blind at Radford Hospital and White Motors. She was a charter member of Newbern United Methodist Church. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Curtis G. Morris and DeAnna Morris, of Williamston, S.C., and C. Leon Morris and Gloria Morris, of Christiansburg, Va.; daughter, Charlotte M. Mabry, of Charlottesville, Va.; brother, Clinton Jennings, of Dublin; seven grandchildren, Larry Mabry, Sandra Lemley, Brian Mabry, Michele Rogers, Chris Morris, David Morris and Michael Morris; 10 greatgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2011, in the Bower Funeral Home Chapel, Pulaski, with the Rev. Paul Goshorn officiating. Interment will follow at Newbern Cemetery. Family visitation will be held on Friday, March 4, 2011, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Bower Funeral Home.
