Taylor, Betty Myrtle Marcus
Betty Myrtle Marcus Taylor, 71, of Narrows, Va., passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2011, at her home. She was born in Roderfield, W.Va., on December 12, 1939, and was the daughter of the late Roe and Mable Buchanan Marcus. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Carrie Elizabeth Kinder; four brothers, Daniel Marcus, Carrol Marcus, Alan Marcus and Roy Marcus; and five sisters, Edna Vaught, Helen Jones, Ann Jarvis, Phyllis French and Pauline Marcus. A faithful member of Williams Chapel Church of Christ, Betty was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved to load up the grandchildren and travel to yard sales. She will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 50 years, Claude Eugene Taylor, of Narrows; a son, Tommy Taylor and wife, Mary Ann, of Narrows; a daughter, Tammy Ahern and husband, Bill, of Belspring, Va.; five grandchildren, Christen Porterfield, Jacob Taylor, Brooke Taylor, Gabrielle Kinder, and Becky Taylor; two sisters, Dorothy Westbrook and husband, Jim, of Spartanburg, S.C., and Retha Ellison and husband, Grady, of Moncks Corner, S.C.; two brothers, Johnny Marcus, of Huntington, W.Va., and Glen Marcus and wife, Dot, of Hickory, N.C.; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many special friends. Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m. on Sunday, February 20, 2011, in the chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with Evangelist Harold Goins officiating. Burial will follow in Angels Rest Cemetery.
