Vandergriff, Dorothy Jarrett (Dot)

Dorothy Jarrett (Dot) Vandergriff, 91, of Blacksburg, Va., passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at her home. She was born in Chattanooga, Tenn., on October 12, 1919, to the late George Whitfield and Mamie Sanders Jarrett. She was a member of the Blacksburg Church of Christ and the D.A.R. She is survived by her husband, Edward “Ed” Newell Vandergriff; daughter, Carol Claiborne Vandergriff; son, George Edward Vandergriff, all of Blacksburg; sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Rhodes Boykin, of Chevy Chase, Md.; grandchildren and their spouses, Susan and Earl Spelmann, of Georgia, David Edward and Lucy Vandergriff, of Chapel Hill, N.C.; and greatgrandchild, Jarrett Thomas Green, of Georgia. Funeral Services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Friday, January 29, 2011, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Loy Burch and Mr. Tom Gillmore officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m. on Friday, January 28, 2011, before the service at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg, Va., 540-552-3211.
