Glossbrenner, Edgar Wilson

Edgar Wilson (Jax) Glossbrenner, 82, of Blacksburg, Va., passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2011. He was born in Jeffersonville, Ind., and raised in Richmond, Va. He studied at Virginia Tech and was awarded bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Physics. At Poly Scientific in Blacksburg he became a world expert in sliding electrical contacts, led the engineering department, and retired in 1994 after 39 years of dedicated service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Lutz and Dorothy Glossbrenner; and his beloved wife, Mary Lou Morgan Glossbrenner. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and David Francis Jr., of Christiansburg; a son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Sue Glossbrenner, of Red Bank, N.J.; three grandchildren, Christopher Bryson, of Christiansburg, and Morgan and Hayley Glossbrenner, of Red Bank, N.J. A Memorial Service will be conducted 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 23, 2011, at Blacksburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. Reggie Tuck officiating. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Blacksburg Rescue Squad, the Blacksburg United Methodist Church, Warm Hearth Foundation, or the Michael J.
