Arrington, Foster Stanley
Foster Stanley Arrington, of Blacksburg, Va., went on to his heavenly reward on Sunday, January 9, 2011. All that knew him loved this gentle selfless man. He never met a stranger, just someone who would quickly become a friend. Foster was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was born on September 9, 1923, in Montgomery County, Va., and was the son of the late George Washington and Rushie M. Arrington. His parents; wife, Mittie Agnor Arrington; one sister, Joyce Arrington Henschel; two brothers, Billy Joe Arrington and Jack Lawson Arrington; and one son, Stephen Foster Arrington; preceded him in death. His memory lives on in the hearts of his sister, George Ann Pence, of Blacksburg, Va.; a son and daughter-in-law, George and Ginny Arrington, of Blacksburg, Va.; daughter and son-in-law, Annette and John Sheckler, of Chesterfield, Va.; daughter-in-law, Joan Arrington Lewis, of Lynchburg Va.; sisters-in-law, Adelia Arrington, of Blacksburg, Va., and Jackie Altice, of Salem, Va.; and brother-in-law, Fred Henschel, of Chevy Chase, Md. Also surviving him are four grandchildren, Michelle Leonard, Anne Jones, Rhianon Growney, and Amanda McBride; six greatgrandchildren; and extended family member, Joyce Bowling. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 14, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg, Va. The Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2011, at North Fork Baptist Church in the Community of Ellett, Va., with the Rev. Fred Brugger and the Rev. Olen Gardner officiating. Internment will follow in the North Fork Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Todd Estes officiating.
