Riegert, Raymond Paul

Raymond Paul Riegert, 85, of Cornelius, N.C., formerly of Blacksburg, Va., died after a brief illness, Wednesday, September 27, 2006, at his daughter’s residence where he was residing.

He was born December 23, 1920 in Egypt, Pa. (Lehigh County), to the late Emil Riegert and Mary Strich Riegert. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Lova Riegert in 1999; and by two brothers.

He is survived by son, Christopher Riegert and wife, Cecelia of Blacksburg, Va.; daughter, Patricia “Tish” Riegert of Cornelius; grandchildren, William Riegert of Rochester, N.Y., Sarah Riegert of Manhattan, N.Y., Emma Riegert of Blacksburg, Va., Claire Klinger and husband, Kenny, Elizabeth Waller and husband, Jayson, all of Cornelius; great-grandchildren, Bryce Klinger, Hannah Waller, Mackenzie Waller and “Baby Waller” whose expected in the spring of ’07; sister, Cecelia Burford of Buena Vista, Va.

Raymond moved to Cornelius from Blacksburg, Va., two weeks ago to live with his daughter Tish. He lived in Blacksburg from ’95 to present. Prior to that he had lived 35 years in Forest City, N.C. He enlisted in the Air Force while attending NC State.

He served in World War II from ’42 to ’45 as a member of the “Flying Tigers” in the ChinaBurma-Indian Theater. He later graduated from the Philadelphia School of Textiles and worked in the textile industry for many years until his retirement. He dearly loved his grand and greatgrandchildren.
