Williams, Jr., Garnet Porter

Garnet Porter Williams, Jr., age 58 of Pulaski died Tuesday September 26, 2006 in Pulaski Community Hospital. He was born December 3, 1947 in Pulaski, and was the son of the late Evelyn Robertson Williams and Garnet “Mac” Porter Williams, Sr. Garnet was retired from Bell Atlantic as a materials manager, and was a long-time member of the Thorn Spring United Methodist Church where he served as a lay leader and speaker, and was active on the pastors parish relations committee.

He is survived by his loving wife Donna Kegley Williams; his daughter, Michelle W. Copenhaver and her husband Mark of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Also survived by two grandchildren, Amanda and Jenna Copenhaver; several nieces and nephews, several aunts, many cousins, and his faithful companion dog “Ms. Fancy”.

Funeral services will be held Friday September 29, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Thorn Spring United Methodist Church with the Rev. Maria Grimm officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. The family will receive friends Thursday evening at the church from 6 until 8 p.m.

Garnet will be remembered by all who knew him as a loving, faithful Christian who longed to go home to Heaven.
