Harris, Ronald Sherwood (Ronnie)

Ronald Sherwood (Ronnie) Harris, 68, of Blacksburg, Va., died on Sunday, December 19, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer at Lewis Gale Montgomery Hospital. He was born in Floyd, Va., on November 8, 1942, to the late Marvin Odell (Mo) and Elnora June Wade Harris. Ronnie was an upholsterer in the furniture business in Montgomery County and surrounding area for the past 45 years and served six years in the Virginia National Guard. He is survived by his wife, Brenda McCoy Harris, of Blacksburg; two daughters and sons-in-law, Michele H. and Greg Dudash, of McCoy, and Tracy D. and Mike Freeman, of Charles Town, W.Va.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Chad E. and Karen Harris, of McCoy, and Ronald Andrew Raines, of Prices Fork; one sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Bill Irvin, of Petersburg, Va.; one brother and sister-in-law, David W. and Rita Harris, of Sunnyside; three grandchildren, Scott Everett Harris, Bryant Daniel Harris and Owen Mitchell Freeman; stepgranddaughter, Victoria Danielle Dudash; motherin-law, Pauline C. McCoy, of McCoy; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Rhonda M. and Doug Minnix, of McCoy; lifelong friend, Charlie Bascom Weeks, of Blacksburg; dear friend, Andy McCoy, of Christiansburg; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted 3 p.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2010, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Jim Flaugher officiating. Interment will follow in the Scott-Albert Cemetery, McCoy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society , 2840 Electric Road, Suite 106-A, Roanoke, Va. 24018.
