Herbert Zimmerman, 78, of Christiansburg, Va., died on Tuesday, November 23, 2010, at his home after a short battle with cancer. Mr. Zimmerman retired from RAAP after 27 years of service. He belonged to the Radford Host Lions Club, Masonic Lodge No. 316 in Kent, Ohio. Mr. Zimmerman was born on November 8, 1932, to the late Edward Zimmerman and his surviving mother, Alberta Zimmerman Hahn. He is also survived by his wife, Sally Christensen Zimmerman; sons and daughter-in-law, Herbert and Debra Zimmerman II, and Michael Zimmerman; daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Frank Walker; sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Jim McGrath; and brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Sarah Zimmerman. He is also survived by five grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Tauro, Dr. Goldsmidt and Carlion New River Valley Hospice for the care given to Mr. Zimmerman. A Memorial service will be held 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 27, 2010, in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Sutphin officiating.
