Rogers, George Daniel
George Daniel (Danny) Rogers, 58, of 211 Owens St., Apt. N1, Blacksburg, Va. passed away Saturday, October 30, 2010, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. He was born October 7, 1952, and was the son of the late George B. Rogers Jr. He was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, George Bernard Rogers Sr. and Mary Siner Rogers; maternal grandparents, Rudolph and Annie C. Shaver; paternal great-grandparents, George and Hattie Tilson Rogers; uncles, Sidney Shaver, Billy Shaver and Frank Shaver; aunt, Bettie Jene Shaver. Danny will be lovingly remembered as an accomplished guitarist who enjoyed playing for his family, friends and the public starting at the age of five. Surviving are his beloved mother, Louise Shaver Rogers; stepmother and best friend, Robin Carter Rogers, both of Blacksburg, Va.; aunts, Ellen S. Robinson (Archie), Patsy S. Snead (Johnny), Peggy S. Matherly; uncles, Johnny Shaver (Brenda), Jimmy Shaver; his extended family includes the Alberts, the Brumfields, the Carters and the Days; numerous cousins, and special friends from the Va Tech Post Office and WKEX Radio. The family would like to express special thanks to the medical staff of Montgomery Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, November 3, 2010, at 2 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Hopkins and the Rev. Rador Vaden officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg.
