Brown, Jewell Burns

Jewell Brown, 85, of Peterstown, WV, passed away Monday, April 23, 2018 at Carilion Giles Community Hospital. She was born, December 1, 1932, at Peterstown, WV and was the daughter of the late Homer G. and Josephine Helvey Burns.

Jewell attended Peterstown High School, worked at McLeans Drug Store, Hometown Pharmacy, volunteered at Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital Auxillary and was a member of the Peterstown United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Dale E. Brown; two sisters, Ruth Harry and Patricia Newberry; one brother, Jerry Burns; and brother-in-law, Stephen Newberry.

Survivors include one daughter, Lisa B. Maddox and her little dog Sophie of Rich Creek, VA.; Sister-in-law, Sue Burns Kirchmar of Morgantown, WV; one niece, Rita Mooney and husband Marvin of Peterstown, WV; four nephews, Steve Newberry and wife Lynn, Troy Burns and wife Kim, all of Peterstown, WV, Larry Burns and wife Linda of Horner, WV, Tim Burns and wife Pam of Mt. Airy, NC.; and special friends, Bob and Shirley Osborne of Princeton, WV, and Larry Mitchell of Rich Creek, VA.

Funeral services will be 1:00pm, Friday, April 27, 2018 at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Pastor Becky Van Stavern officiating. Burial will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Rich Creek, VA. Friends may call from 12:00 pm until time of services on Friday at the Funeral Home.
