Wikle, Harold S.

Harold S. Wikle, 97, of Peterstown, WV died Sunday, April 7, 2019. Born October 31, 1921 at Spanishburg, WV he was the son of the late Lacy L. and Mattie Breen Wikle.

Harold was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church in Rich Creek, VA where he attended regularly while his health permitted. He served in the United States Army and was retired from Celanese Fibers in Narrows, VA after 38 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, raising bird dogs, and woodworking. Harold was thankful for the blessings of a long, good life.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Retha Bradley Wikle and his sister, Virginia Blake Gilmore.

Survivors include one son, Stan Wikle and wife Donna of Princeton, WV; one grandson, Brian Wikle and wife Kara of Bluefield, WV; and two great grandchildren, Charlotte Grace Wikle and Henry James Wikle.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2019 at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV with Rev. Aubrey Whitlow officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Rich Creek, VA. David Wikle, Steve Allen, Curt Sutphin, Melvin Young, Rodger Boothe and Felix Hale will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home in Peterstown, WV.

The family is grateful to Dr. Mike Brackenrich and staff, Country View Assisted Living, and Carilion Giles Community Hospital for their loving care.
